In November 2016, Johnson County began the process of updating its comprehensive plan for the unincorporated areas of the county.  Please check back here periodically to remain updated on the process, public input events, and progress updates. Board of Supervisors work session scheduled for Jan. 18 to discuss survey comments. Details below.

Jan. 18, 2018: Johnson County Board of Supervisors Work Session at 1 p.m. in the 2nd-floor Boardroom, Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St. in Iowa City to review public input from comment period and open house (see below). Please double-check this meeting date/time before attending as inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances may cause rescheduling. A few days before the meeting agenda and related materials will be posted online. You also can find media links at the above site the day of and historically after.

Public hearings will be scheduled in early 2018.

From Nov. 28 to Dec 15, 2017, Johnson County residents and interested people were invited to share their input on the Plan's six chapters (including the future land use map and the related guidelines) and the Appendices (versions dated 11/28/2017). An open house was held on Dec. 5, and a survey was available during the comment period. Paper surveys and copies of the plan also were available at Stringtown Grocery and at the County Planning, Development and Sustainability Department in Iowa City.
