The Latest Drafts and Upcoming Input and Meeting Opportunities

Please know that all material is in draft format and subject to change based on input from the Comprehensive Plan Committee, the public and the Board of Supervisors. There are many additional opportunities for public comment (see further below or the Project Schedule page for events).

The plan above includes all sections previously provided separately, including the goals, strategies and action steps, the development guidelines, and the future land use map. We additionally provide the map as a separate file for convenience.


The next few meetings are listed here. Please see the Project Schedule for meetings and activities that will be held later in the year. Please note that meeting dates and times may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Thank you for your understanding.


Comprehensive Planning Committee Meeting: - Review Plan -- November 2, 2017 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Room 203 B-C, Health and Human Services Building, 855 S. Dubuque Street

The Committee will discuss the latest draft of the plan. A public comment period will be held at the end of the session. Agenda. The meeting will be recorded but not live broadcast.

Board of Supervisors Work Session: Review Draft -  November 16, 2017, from 1 to as long as necessary in the 2ndfloor Boardroom, County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City

The Supervisors will review the draft based on the input from the prior CPC meeting. Then the draft will be shown to the public in an open house the first week of December with a two-week public input period for the public to comment on the draft plan and map. The Nov. 16th meeting broadcast (may be audio only) and taped: media and agenda links for Nov. 16, 2017, meeting. (Note: agenda may not be unavailable until a few days before the meeting.)

Public Open House Review of Draft Plan and Map – December 5, 2017 from 5:30 to 8 or 8:30 p.m. (exact hours to be determined) Room 203 B-C, Health and Human Services Building, 855 S. Dubuque Street, Iowa City

A two-week public comment period will be Dec. 1-15. Public hearings will be scheduled in early 2018.
